Take a sip of the wine after enjoying the aroma...
...make sure you cover the entire surface of your tongue
...if
you taste the wine on the front of your tongue-
-it is a sweet, fruity wine.
you taste the wine on the sides of your tongue-
-it is a sour, acidic wine.
you taste the wine on the back of your tongue-
-it is a bitter, tannic* wine.
*Tannins are astringent, bitter-tasting plant polyphenols that bind and precipitate proteins.

Yes! I love this. I have really been learning about wines and trying to enjoy them when I can. I found Sequoia Grove at our Whole Foods and I am waiting until Carrie is done nursing to enjoy it with her. Thanks for taking the time to write about this!

Randy, this new blog is very well done and is an informative and entertaining service for vino novices like moi. I think I'm going to have to get a bottle of the Two Vines merlot this weekend.

Nice idea. Unfortunately you're perpetuating the myth of the Tongue Map in your Easy Guide, see
http://www.livescience.com/health/060829_bad_tongue.html or google Linda Bartoshuk. That aside good luck with the blog.
